Plastic Structured Packing

Lightweight, corrosion-resistant corrugated-plate structured packing in PP and PVDF for corrosive absorption and high-liquid-load service.

Plastic structured packing

Plastic structured packing gives the efficiency and low pressure drop of a corrugated structure with the corrosion resistance, light weight and low cost of engineering plastics — the preferred choice for corrosive absorbers and high-liquid-load acid service. PCX supplies corrugated-plate packing in PP and PVDF, sourced from qualified international partners and supplied to your column specification across Thailand. Lightweight corrosion-resistant corrugated-plate packing

Plastic Corrugated Plate Packing

Corrugated-plate structured packing moulded from corrosion-resistant plastics. Light weight, high throughput, low pressure drop, large specific surface area and easy to replace, with plates that can be perforated to raise transfer efficiency. Temperature limits depend on the polymer — polypropylene (PP) to 100 °C and PVDF to 150 °C.

  • Polypropylene (PP)
  • PVDF

Applications: absorption and desorption; high-liquid-load, high-pressure service such as hydrochloric acid (HCl) and sulphuric acid (H₂SO₄) production; CO₂ and H₂S removal from natural gas; chlorine drying; ammonia-liquor production; waste-gas purification; deaeration

Frequently Asked Questions

When should I use plastic structured packing?

Plastic corrugated-plate packing is chosen for corrosive absorption and desorption at high liquid load — for example HCl and H₂SO₄ production, CO₂ and H₂S removal from natural gas, chlorine drying and waste-gas purification — where its corrosion resistance, light weight and low pressure drop are an advantage over metal.

What is the temperature limit?

It depends on the polymer: polypropylene (PP) is used up to about 100 °C and PVDF up to about 150 °C. Tell us your operating temperature and chemistry and we will match the polymer.

What is the difference between the X and Y types?

The Y type uses a 45° corrugation angle for higher efficiency (more theoretical plates per metre), while the X type uses a 30° angle for higher capacity and lower pressure drop. Both are available across the 125–500 m²/m³ surface-area range shown in the table.
