Pure / Soft Iron Anode

Specialised galvanic anodes for the internal protection of heat exchangers, condensers and tank interiors — compatibility-driven protection for copper-alloy and mixed-metal systems.

PURE / SOFT IRON ANODE

Pure / Soft Iron Anodes

Pure (soft) iron anodes are a specialised galvanic product for the internal protection of process equipment. Because the anode dissolves to ferrous ions, it protects internal surfaces without introducing aluminium, zinc or magnesium into the process fluid — important in systems containing copper alloys. They deliver a mild, controlled galvanic current and are supplied in bar, plate and billet forms to suit the equipment.

  • Mild, controlled galvanic current
  • Introduces no Al / Zn / Mg ions into the fluid
  • Suited to copper-alloy and mixed-metal systems
  • For internal protection of equipment
  • Compatibility-driven rather than capacity-driven

Applications: heat-exchanger water boxes, condensers & coolers, tank interiors, internal vessel surfaces

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a pure / soft iron anode used for?

Pure (soft) iron anodes are a specialised galvanic product for the internal protection of process equipment such as heat-exchanger water boxes, condensers, coolers and tank interiors. They are chosen for compatibility rather than maximum current capacity — the anode dissolves to ferrous ions and protects internal surfaces without introducing aluminium, zinc or magnesium into the process fluid.

Why use pure iron instead of zinc or magnesium?

In systems containing copper alloys, aluminium, zinc or magnesium ions released by a conventional sacrificial anode could cause problems. Pure iron dissolves only to ferrous ions, so it protects the equipment while staying compatible with the surrounding metals. It delivers a mild, controlled galvanic current suited to internal protection.

Which forms are available?

Pure / soft iron anodes are supplied in bar, plate and billet forms to suit the equipment. As with the other anodes, most items are made to customer drawings and project specification — contact PCX for sizing.

Do you supply pure iron anodes in Thailand, and how do I get a quotation?

Yes. PCX supplies pure / soft iron anodes on request across Thailand, sourced from qualified international manufacturers and supplied to your specification. Send us the equipment, the system metals and the anode form and quantity you need, and we will return a quotation.
