MMO Anode

Mixed metal oxide (MMO) titanium anodes for impressed current cathodic protection — the modern default anode: dimensionally stable, lightweight and long-lived.

MIXED METAL OXIDE (TITANIUM) ANODE

MMO (Titanium-Based) Anodes

Mixed-metal-oxide (MMO) anodes are a titanium substrate coated with a thin, catalytic oxide layer. They are dimensionally stable, lightweight and consume extremely slowly — letting one anode carry high current for decades. MMO is the modern default anode for most impressed-current applications. MMO แอโนด (mixed metal oxide) ใช้ในระบบจ่ายกระแสสำหรับท่อ ถังเก็บ และคอนกรีตเสริมเหล็ก.

  • Dimensionally stable — inert titanium substrate
  • Extremely low consumption rate < 0.005 kg/A·yr
  • High current density without accelerated wear
  • Long design life of 20–50 years
  • Lightweight and easy to handle and install
  • Works in seawater, soil, freshwater and concrete

Applications: buried & subsea pipelines, tank-bottom protection, reinforced concrete, marine & offshore structures, internal tank surfaces, deep & shallow groundbeds

AVAILABLE FORMS

Available Forms

MMO titanium ribbon anode for tank bottoms and reinforced concrete

Ribbon Anode

Tank bottoms · concrete

Thin titanium ribbon for close, uniform current under tank bottoms and within reinforced concrete.

Continuous MMO wire anode for long pipelines and anode strings

Wire Anode

Long pipelines · strings

Continuous MMO wire for long pipelines and anode strings, giving even current along extended runs.

Expanded MMO titanium mesh anode for reinforced-concrete decks and tanks

Mesh Anode

Concrete decks · tanks

Expanded titanium mesh for reinforced-concrete decks and tank surfaces, spreading current across large flat areas.

Tubular MMO rod and coke-backfill canister anode for groundbeds

Tubular / Rod (Canister)

Groundbeds · marine

Tubular rods, bare or as pre-packaged coke-backfill canisters, for shallow and deep groundbeds — high output per anode.

Form follows the structure and current distribution required — ribbon and mesh for tank bottoms and concrete, wire for long pipelines, tubular and canister for groundbeds. Most products are made to customer drawings and project specifications.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an MMO anode?

A mixed-metal-oxide (MMO) anode is a titanium substrate coated with a thin, catalytic oxide layer. It is dimensionally stable, lightweight and consumes extremely slowly (below 0.005 kg/A·yr), so one anode can carry high current for decades. MMO is the modern default anode for most impressed-current cathodic protection systems.

MMO or high-silicon cast iron — which ICCP anode?

MMO is lightweight, dimensionally stable and long-lived (20–50 years), and works in seawater, soil, freshwater and concrete — the modern default for pipelines, tank bottoms and reinforced concrete. High-silicon cast iron is a robust, lower-cost choice for soil and water groundbeds. Send us the structure, environment and design life and we will recommend the anode.

What forms of MMO anode are available?

Ribbon for tank bottoms and concrete, wire for long pipelines and anode strings, expanded mesh for concrete decks and tank surfaces, and tubular rods or pre-packaged coke-backfill canisters for shallow and deep groundbeds. Coating loading is matched to the design current density and service life.

How is coating chemistry selected?

The catalytic coating is matched to the environment — ruthenium-iridium types for seawater and iridium-tantalum types for concrete and high-temperature service. In soil, anodes are installed in calcined-petroleum-coke backfill to lower resistance and spread consumption evenly along the anode.

Do you supply MMO anodes in Thailand, and how do I get a quotation?

Yes. PCX supplies MMO titanium anodes across Thailand, sourced from qualified international manufacturers and supplied to your project specification. Send us the structure, environment, protection current and design life — and the form you need — and we will return a quotation.
